In 1987 the Netherlands Open University, which was established in 1984,began a course in International Law. It was considered to be of greatimportance that the students of this course, who live in all parts of theNetherlands, should have easy access to relevant instruments of internationallaw, preferably in the authentic language. It is for that reason thatthe editors of the present book made a careful selection from the numerousinternational conventions, declarations and other instruments ofinternational law.
