The escape of an airman. In this book Stany Moortgat tells the story of a Canadian air gunner who was shot down in an RAF aircraft above Mechelen, Belgium, in 1942. From there he went to England and eventually returned to Canada. With this story, the author records another piece of intangible cultural heritage. He brings to life one exciting facet of the many events that our region underwent during the Second World War. He carried out detailed research and came into contact with people - in some cases in person - who were able to recall, after more than fifty years, what happened
