The Rijksmuseum has an unrivalled collection of tapestries, around 125 wall hangings and 75 other tapestry, woven furnishings such as table carpets, chair covers, cushions and fire-screens. These works of art were woven in Flanders, France, Germany, Italy and the Northern Netherlands. The group of Northern Netherlandish tapestries of the 17th century is unique. For the first time, all the tapestries in the collection have been illustrated in colour and described in detail.
