Rethinking Ecumenism aims to give a new impetus to current thinking on ecumenism, as the ecumenical movement nowadays appears to have lost most of its initial vigour. The visions launched by the World Council of Churches in the first decades of its existence seem to be clouded by a mentality of bureaucracy. People look elsewhere for inspiration and motivation. Nonetheless there are also people who hold on to the vision oc church unity, though, perhaps, in a different manner. This book gives some of them the opportunity to expand on their designs and strategies, hoping that their contribution gives a new incentive and may thus be a source of inspiration to others.
